racer96's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Just my thoughts, and mine alone. Well, in case some people are unclear on my position on this whole war thing, I figured I'd get my two bits in. (Because, honestly, isn't that what everyone's been waiting for?) =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Some people that I know, have taken to calling the different public opinion on this matter as a Canadian versus American thing. Why aren't the Canadians supporting the war? Don't come looking to us for help when someone comes and bombs you guys. I'm ashamed to be a Canadian/American citizen. Those are just some of the things that I've heard. The reason why I think (note, it's me thinking, not some government official, I have no real idea why the government isn't backing it) that Canada is not backing the war bid, is because of lack of information. When you make a large decision like, oh, buying a car. Choosing a school. Buying a house. Anything like that, don't you like to be as informed as you can? If you don't feel comfortable, or don't feel as knowledgeable as you think you should, when you commit to a large decision like that, don't you wait, and try to learn as much as possible? Now multiply that by a factor of, oh, say, a trillion. You know, round it off. Now you have to make the decision on whether or not you support going against international policies, and interpreting others as favourable as possible, which still doesn't really grant you the rights. When you're finished thinking about that, think about what this decision would mean to not just you, but to every single person that you are representing. Not tens, hundreds or thousands of people. Millions of people. Think about what it would do to families. Think about what the possible repercussions are. Then think some more. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. There are so many more things to factor in, and even more than I could possibly imagine. I'm sorry, but, I have to agree with the wait for more information side of things. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Now, in saying that, please don't think that I am anti-american. I know alot of american people. I hold some of those people in the highest regard. Some of them agree with being pre emptive. Others disagree. This doesn't make them any more, or less, american. I also know some people in the US military. Some of them are even extremely opposed to initiating this war. However, they are there. And they are fighting. Not because they believe in it, but, because that is what they are told to do. Also, by saying these things, don't think that I am anti-Bush. It is possible to disagree with someone on certain subjects, yet still be allies with them. It is also possible to be opposed to this war, while still being supportive to the military over there. Just because one disagrees with the actions, doesn't mean that they no longer support the people. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Yes, America will win this war. Of course they will. I don't think there is a person in the world that doesn't think that. But it depends on how you look at the war. Sometimes, I think that the manner in which this war was initiated, was already a deep loss. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= I also believe that yes, weapons of mass destruction will be found. Of course they will. There is way too much to lose for there to not be any found. I just wonder though, if Saddam really has access to all these weapons of mass destruction. If he really has all the chemical and biological weapons as the president is claiming, then, why have they not been used? =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= So, there's my view on the situation. Yeah, really enlightening, right? :P =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Don't worry, I'm going to be playing some ball hockey tonight, so, hopefully tomorrow we'll be back to discussions on being knocked unconscious, and perhaps even a hit in the nuts story. Stay tuned. Mike 4:53 p.m. - 2003-03-24 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
