racer96's Diaryland Diary

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here, now let me hit you in the nuts.

Sometimes I really hate it when I lose all track of what day of the week it is. Those days are the ones where I think it's Friday when it's actually Thursday.

Other days I love it when I lose all track of what day of the week it is. Those days are the ones where I think it's Wednesday and it's actually Friday.

And then there's today. Where it's Thursday, I know it's Thursday, yet it feels like a Friday, and I'm going on my 15th hour of being here at work.

Hooray.

As I mentioned in an earlier entry, I've been spending time on various goaltending discussion boards. Which, probably sounds as much fun as stabbing yourself repeatedly with q-tips.

It's fun to me though.

Anyways, I have garnered a bit of a reputation on those boards as being a "gear whore". Which, you know, sounds kind of bad.

Especially when my girlfriend is reading over my shoulder and wonders aloud why my fellow goalies are calling me a whore, and what exactly do I do when I say I'm going to play hockey.

However, it's just a phenomenon that results when a person develops a fondness for goalie equipment, and, uhm, has way too much of it.

Hi, my name is Mike, and I am a gear whore.

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

The positive thing about becoming a gear whore, when combined with the fact that I can generally string a few words together into something semi intelligent, is that I have been asked to test and try out various pieces of hockey equipment for different companies.

Free gear!

Just to add to my gear whorishness.

However, there is one company, that, because of their business practices, I have stayed away from doing any testing for them.

They've offered me a few different times, to test out and keep different pieces of gear. First it was privately, and then it became a public thing.

I've turned them down each time.

Bet you didn't think I actually had any morals, did you.

Anyways, the purpose of that little bit of info, was to let you all know that the latest thing that they have offered to me to test out, is a goalie jock.

Kind of scary, when you think about it a little bit.

"Here, strap this thing over your dangly bits, and let people fire hard rubber bullets at you."

No thanks. :D

Beetle on the other hand, thought it was great, I'd be able to combine my love of hockey, with my love of stories of people getting hit in the nuts.

Thanks Beetle.

Now, a warning about an e-mail that has started circulating.

There is currently a fraudulent e-mail going around, stating that it is from BestBuy.com and that a transaction has been made on your credit card, however they feel that it may be a fraud, so they are asking you to confirm it.

If you click on the link provided, it will take you to a website that is NOT Best Buy, and they ask you to confirm if it is a real purchase or not. The site looks very professional, and all other links on that page are actual bestbuy links.

If you click on the no and decline charges, it asks for personal information to verify. DO NOT fill this out, or give out any information. It is a hoax of some sort, trying to get your information.

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

And thus ends my public service announcement for the day.

Mike
