racer96's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What a week. It's been a weird week. Warren Zevon passed away. I only know a few of his songs, but Beetle loved him. It was the second anniversary of September 11, 2001. I have mixed feelings on that. I still think of the images, and how surreal it all was. I still get saddened by the thoughts of it, however, I do think that it is time for people to celebrate the people that survived, the police, the firefighters, the doctors, the average person, the heroes. There is a story I once heard, about a native american tribe who have a tradition in which if something traumatic happens to a tribe member, on two occasions they can call the tribe together to tell their tale, and they will recieve complete support and sympathy. however if they try to tell people a third time, they will be ignored. Why? because this tribe believes that when you are injured you need to clean out the wound. but once it has been cleaned, you need to allow it to close and heal. There is a fine line between cleaning the wound, and just keeping it open so it can't heal. Today, John Ritter and Johnny Cash died. On Tuesday, I found out that Chrome died. A strange week indeed. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= I first encountered Chrome when a snappy little chinky chicka brought him into the group that worked on Classics. I hated him. He was so absolutely enthusiastic and spastic and nutso about the project that it went from being something laid back and fun, into something tyrannical and crazy. I wanted him off the project. Sinn said no, he was on. Good move, because he actually did work on the sucker. I then ran into him when I judged Diary Survivor 4. DS4 was crazy in and of itself, because of some of the contestants involved, and because of the way some of the judges shaped it. Chrome loved that he got in. Then he hated it for all the stupid little political games that ensued. And because some people were just plain nutso. I felt sorry for the people in the contest that weren't having fun with it, and tried to get them to see the fun part of it, and help them to enjoy themselves, and just to remember their joy when they found out that they had gotten in. From that point on, I had a different attitude towards Chrome, and even though he was just a few days younger than me, I thought of him as a young eager to please excitable kid. He was fun. And even though we didn't talk much, I'm gonna miss him. Lots of people are going to miss him. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Well, I've gotten back into playing ice hockey. Here's the proof.
Ain't it purty? =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Have a good weekend everyone. Stay safe. Mike 7:12 p.m. - 2003-09-12 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
